There and Back Again: Side Saddle Restoration

Hello and Happy New Year!

We are back in the workshop after the Christmas break to an exiting new project.

This is a beautiful Owen side saddle in for restoration, she was made by Owen & Co Saddlers & Harness makers in London.

Owen & Co was founded by Henery Owen and where manufacturing between roughly 1839 and 1948 from Mount St in Berkley Square.

At some point within the last century this saddle made her way to New Zealand and is said to have been ridden on by three times Olympic rider Jenny Loriston-Clarke. She's since been purchased by our client back in England who has asked NRD Saddles to restore her to working, ridable condition.
