All of our Sidesaddle trees are all made in house.

Our bespoke side saddle trees where born through the need for the traditional side saddle to fit the modern horse. 

​

Nick Dolman spent several years travelling through out America and Europe visiting barns, stud farms and horse shows to glean a first hand  perspective from the professionals working with in the industry. From how the horses are bred, through the training process, all the way into the show ring.

This time was key for developing a side saddle tree that can deal with the vigorous demands of aside riding without compromising the horse.

He identified there was an inherent problem with vintage saddles and saddle design for the horses of today. Who are typically much broader and shorter in the back, than the traditional leaner, withery hunter type of old. 
A vast majority of the saddles are narrow in the head and gullet, and often in the seat; meaning the saddles not only sat too high and pinched the horse, but also left the rider spilling over the seat. Not a winning combination!

Hence the NRD Sidesaddle tree. 

Sleeker, wider in the head, broader through the rails and more spacious for the rider, with out the need to build the seat up and away from the horse, to achieve a lower centre of balance.  
This enables the saddles to sit flat and level and function correctly as a saddle that can be used to ride in regularly and not just pulled out on show day.
